If an Individual Education Plan team determines that the provision of
transportation services is necessary in order for a child enrolled in STRIDE to
benefit from special education, STRIDE will provide transportation services.
STRIDE contracts with the city of Cheyenne for transportation services. The
transportation guidelines are listed below:
1. For health and safety reasons, children are not allowed to bring food, toys,
or pets on the bus.
2. After arriving at the pick up location, the driver will wait five (5) minutes
before continuing on the route. Please have your child ready so that he/she is
not left behind.
3. The bus will wait five (5) minutes for a parent who is not at the designated
drop off area. After five (5) minutes, the child will be taken to the Cheyenne
Transit Program office. The phone number is 637-6253. It is then the
responsibility of the parent to pick up their child at this location. If the
child is not picked up within one (1) hour after arriving at the transit office,
he/she will be taken to the Cheyenne Police department.
4. If someone other than the designated caretaker is to pick up your child,
please notify the bus driver or the Cheyenne Transit office. If the office is
not notified, your child will not be released, and your child will be taken to
the Cheyenne Transit office. It will be the responsibility of the parent to pick
up their child at this location or the Cheyenne Police Department.
5. If you do not want your child to ride the bus on any specific day, you need
to notify the driver or Cheyenne Transit dispatch at 637-6253 at least two (2)
hours before the scheduled pick up time. If you call during non-working hours,
please leave a message on the answering machine. The bus will not return to your
designated pick up location until you notify the transit office that your child
will be returning to school.
6. Please notify STRIDE at least seven (7) days in advance if your child's pick
up or drop off address is to change.
The vehicles used to transport children are maintained in safe condition and
comply with applicable motor laws.
