I Have a Child with a Disability! What About Me??? You've dealt with diagnosis, medical needs, developmental evaluations, , IFSP’S or IEP’S…etc., etc., etc.,…So What About YOU? Come Join Us This Year as We Explore Our Lives as Parents of Children with Disabilities.
September 24, 2009 – “Welcome to Holland” – Meet and greet and talk about the essay written by Emily Perl Kingsley. October 22, 2009 – “It’s OK, we all feel this way at times!” Discussing grief, guilt and sorrow. November 19, 2009 – “Why don’t they get it??” Dealing with and involving extended family. December 17, 2009 – “I love my child just they way they are!” Let’s talk about acceptance. January 28, 2010 – “Why is everybody always staring???” Dealing with community interaction February 25, 2010 – “My child met a big developmental milestone before yours did!!!” Why do we still feel the need to compare? March 18, 2010 – “Hey honey, what about the other kids?” How do we help brothers and sisters? April 22, 2010 – “Will life ever be normal again???” Moving on and living a “normal” life. May 20, 2010 – “What have you learned from your child?”
All sessions will be at STRIDE Learning Center on Parsley from 6:00 – 7:30 and childcare will be available. Due to the nature of this program, space is limited for both attendance and childcare. To register call Colleen at 632-2991 or email colleen@stridekids.com |
