STRIDE Advancement Scholarship

General Information 

  1. The STRIDE Advancement Scholarship is intended for individuals with disabilities to participate in further education, either in an academic setting or a vocational setting.  The scholarship will be based on the financial need of the individual to further advance his or her learning beyond high school. 
     
  2. Scholarship awards will be up to $1000 for the 2009-2010 academic school year and may be renewable upon invitation from the scholarship committee
     
  3. A committee representing STRIDE composed of several STRIDE representatives and community members will review and select the scholarship award winner/s based on the information presented in the application package and an interview of the applicant.  Preference will be given to those individuals who attended STRIDE Learning Center. 
     
  4. Scholarship applications must be postmarked NO LATER THAN MARCH 31, 2009 or delivered to STRIDE Learning Center.  Applications should be addressed to The STRIDE Scholarship Committee at the following address:

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION 

1.    High school graduate of a Laramie County High School.

2.    A documented disability (a physician’s note, IEP paperwork, 504, social security documentation, vocation rehabilitation paperwork)

3.    The applicant must be enrolled in higher education, attending a vocational rehabilitation program, or have located an on-the-job training program beginning in the fall of 2009.

4.    The applicant must provide two letters of recommendation.

5.    The applicant must provide an explanation of intent for the funds either in writing or in video format.  BE CREATIVE!

6.    The applicant must be willing and available to participate in an interview if selected during the review process.

7.    The student must submit a current address upon acceptance of the scholarship in order for the committee to contact the student for progress checks and reapplication.
